CFP: 2026 FLDH America 250 & Florida Digital Humanities: Local, National, & International Connections

The Florida Digital Humanities Consortium invites scholars, researchers, educators, technologists, cultural practitioners, and public historians to submit proposals for papers, panels, roundtables, workshops, and poster presentations that explore how digital tools and innovative practices are reshaping the humanities and expanding public engagement.

In alignment with the national commemoration of America 250, proposals that examine Florida’s role in the American story—past, present, and future—are especially encouraged. Submissions may address Florida’s local histories, Indigenous and diasporic narratives, environmental humanities, cultural memory, migration, civic identity, or regional expressions of the American experiment. While America 250 is a preferred theme, broader Florida-based humanities topics and digital humanities projects not explicitly tied to the anniversary are also welcome. CFP: 2026 Latin American & Caribbean Digital Humanities Symposium

The University of Florida, the University of North Florida, the Universidad San Francisco de Quito, and the Transborder Digital Humanities Center and Consortium (TBDH) at the University of Texas San Antonio (UTSA) will host the fourth annual Latin American & Caribbean Digital Humanities Symposium from September 8-10, 2026, in person at the UT San Antonio-Downtown campus. The symposium will also offer virtual sessions the week of September 21, 2026.

We seek proposals for papers, pre-formed panels with 3-4 speakers, roundtables of up to 6 participants, and posters related to our conference theme, “Transfronteras: Third Spaces in Digital Humanities” focused on Latin American and Caribbean Transborder Digital Humanities, or topics related to Digital Humanities on Latin America and Caribbean Studies. We welcome proposals from higher education (students, faculty, staff, and independent scholars) and encourage projects from cultural institutions and organizations doing work in the digital humanities. We encourage proposals for projects at any stage of completion.

Please submit proposals in English, Spanish, Portuguese, or French by February 13, 2026. Participation limit: An individual may appear twice on the program, once as a presenter of a poster or paper (submitted individually or as part of an organized panel) and once on a round table. Serving as moderator does not count toward participation limits.

The University of Florida, the University of North Florida, Universidad San Francisco de Quito, and the University of Puerto Rico will host their third Latin American & Caribbean Digital Humanities Symposium in-person at University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras Campus from Wednesday, November 5 to Friday, November 7, 2025. The symposium will also offer virtual sessions on Thursday, November 13 and Friday, November 14, 2025.  

We seek proposals for individual papers, themed sessions with multiple presentations, posters, and lightning rounds, related to our conference theme of “Digital Humanities, Memory and Community” or any other topic related to Digital Humanities and focusing on Latin America and Caribbean Studies. We welcome proposals not only from those in higher education, including students, faculty, and staff, but also from cultural institutions and other organizations doing work in the digital humanities. 

Proposals of no more than 250 words may be submitted in English, Spanish, Portuguese, or French by April 12, 2025. We encourage people to submit proposals for projects at any stage of completion. You can submit your proposal using our submission form.

Nous recherchons des propositions de présentations (longues de 15 mn ou courtes de 5 mn), de sessions thématiques avec des présentations multiples, ou de posters, liés au thème de notre conférence Humanités Numériques, Mémoire et Communauté ou à tout autre sujet lié aux humanités numériques et axé sur les études sur l’Amérique latine et les Caraïbes. Nous acceptons non seulement les propositions de toute personne de l’enseignement supérieur, y compris les étudiant·e·s, les professeur·e·s, ou autres membres du staff, mais aussi les propositions de toute personne venant d’institutions culturelles ou d’autres organisations travaillant dans les humanités numériques.

The University of Florida, the University of North Florida, and Universidad San Francisco de Quito will host their second Latin America & Caribbean Digital Humanities (LACDH) Symposium at Universidad San Francisco Quito in Quito, Ecuador from Thursday, July 4 – Saturday July 6, 2024. This symposium will offer a mix of in-person and virtual sessions. All in-person sessions will take place at the Universidad San Francisco de Quito (USFQ), while the virtual sessions will be offered on zoom.

Florida Digital Humanities Consortium 10-Year Anniversary Conference

Theme: We are delighted to announce the 10-year anniversary conference of the Florida Digital Humanities Consortium, entitled “Humanities in the AI Age: Celebrating a Decade of Innovation.” As we reflect on a decade of research and innovation, this conference invites scholars, researchers, practitioners, and educators to engage in retrospective analysis and forward-thinking discussions on the evolution of the field of digital humanities and its impact on the arts and humanities.

Conference Focus: This conference will focus on exploring the intricate relationship between technology and the arts and humanities. We invite submissions that critically examine how advancements in artificial intelligence, digital tools, and computational methods have reshaped research, pedagogy, and creative expression in the humanities over the past decade. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

  1. Digital art and literature in the age of AI
  2. Computational approaches to analyzing cultural artifacts and texts
  3. Digital storytelling and narrative theory
  4. Ethical considerations in digital humanities research
  5. Collaborative methodologies and interdisciplinary approaches
  6. Augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) in humanities and arts scholarship
  7. Preservation and access to cultural heritage through digital technologies
  8. Pedagogical innovations and digital humanities education
  9. Race, gender, class, identity, technology access, and other limitations to DH participation and knowledge
  10. The role of Large Language Models in DH research and teaching
  11. Questions or problems that Automated Transcription raises in regard to accessibility, equity, inclusion, and other topics
  12. Algorithmic bias, black box systems, and the explainability turn
  13. DH work in the tenure, promotion, thesis, or dissertation process
  14. Algorithmic and big data biases, and how they affect the work of digital humanities

Call for Proposals: We invite proposals for individual papers, panel sessions, workshops, and interactive demonstrations that address the conference theme and topics. Proposals should include an abstract clearly outlining the objectives, methodologies, and significance of the proposed presentation. We welcome proposals not only from those in higher education, including students, faculty and staff, but also from cultural institutions and other organizations doing work in the digital humanities.

Submission Guidelines:

  • Deadline for proposal submission: May 17
  • Notification of acceptance: Early June
  • Submissions should be made electronically through our online submission form.
